Client: Alpacka Raft, LLC of Mancos, CO designs and hand-builds inflatable rafts.

Challenge: A small company in Colorado that designs and hand-builds rafts with the best materials and techniques available (while operating completely off the power grid) needed a safer work environment. In a small 12 x 20 space, toxic acetone-based glue is regularly used to seal patch edges and for repairing gouged floors and pinholes. Without proper ventilation, the fumes from most glues can be quite hazardous to human health and flammable.

Solution: Haglid Engineering installed one BPE-XE-MIR 200 series Energy Recovery Module (ERM) with one Energy Star-rated inline fan alongside the existing ventilation system. Functioning on just 38 watts, one solar panel can power this solution!

As a result, Sheri Tingey, owner of Alpacka Rafts, states that there has been a dramatic improvement in the air quality and ventilation. The BPE unit definitely pulls the fumes out of the building and provides a safer work environment for employees.

“The small one works better than the original!” says Tingey.
